A meeting of the Berlin Board of Education was held in the Berlin High School library beginning at 6:00 p.m. Present for the meeting were Corinne Cascadden, Nicole Plourde, Denise Valerino, Louise Valliere, Lynn Moore, Donald Labrecque, Bryan Lamirande, Tim Forestall, Roland Pinette, Cheryl Pinette, Dan Record, Amy Huter, Julie King, Martha Miller, Autie Hamilton, Paul Bousquet, Mildred Arinella, and a member of the press.
MINUTES On a motion by Denise Valerino, seconded by Donald Labrecque, the Board voted to approve the minutes of the January 8, 2015 meeting. The motion passed unanimously.
WARRANTS On a motion by Louise Valliere, seconded by Lynn Moore, the Board voted to approve the warrant dated January 26, 2015 for the amount of $225,872.38. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
FINANCIAL REPORT The Board reviewed and approved the financial report.
COMMENTS None
BHS COURSES On a motion by Louise Valliere, seconded by Lynn Moore, the Board voted to approve the Advanced Placement Statistics course at BHS. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative. On a motion by Louise Valliere seconded by Lynn Moore, the Board voted to approve the Cake Decorating 2 Course at BHS. On a roll call vote, Donald Labrecque, Lynn Moore, Denise Valerino, and Louise Valliere voted in the affirmative; with Nicole Plourde voting in the negative. The motion passed by a 4 to 1 margin. On a motion by Louise Valliere, seconded by Lynn Moore, the Board voted to approve the AP English /US History Honors course at BHS. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
FY 16 BUDGET The Superintendent informed the Board of the revised FY16 Budget request. Discussion ensued. On a motion by Donald Labrecque, seconded by Lynn Moore, the Board voted to bring the revised budget in the amount of $17,980,056 for the general fund, to the public hearing on February 5, 2015. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
COMMENTS Mildred Arinella informed the Board that she felt her child was being bullied and that nothing was being done about the issue. She requested that the schools take the bullying issue more seriously and make us feel that our children are safe on school grounds. “The child that bullies should pay a severe price for it”.

NON PUBLIC On a motion by Lynn Moore, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to go into nonpublic session at 6:35 p.m. in accordance with RSA 91-A3II, (a), (b) & (c). On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
On a motion by Lynn Moore, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to come out of nonpublic session at 7:45 p.m. The motion passed unanimously. No votes were taken in nonpublic session.
ADJOURN On a motion by Donald Labrecque, seconded by Lynn Moore, the Board voted to adjourn it’s meeting at 7:50 p.m. The motion passed unanimously.

NONPUBLIC SESSION
January 22, 2015
On a motion by Lynn Moore, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to go into nonpublic session at 6:35 pm in accordance with RSA 91-A3II (a), (b), and (c). On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
Paul Bousquet, Superintendent of SAU #20 joined the Board for this session.
The Board reviewed the Manifest Educational Hardship Joint Request of 2 students.
Superintendent Bousquet tape recorded the session.
On a motion by Lynn Moore, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to come out of nonpublic session at 7:45 p.m.~ The motion passed unanimously.~
